The hardest part in weight loss training is at the very beginning. Many people know how they should go about with their training, what they should and should not eat, what their schedule ought to be and how long they should continue with that specific training. However, after much planning, they actually don’t know where to start.
It is tough to actually convince yourself that you ought to start, since fitness training usually dictates that you change much of your routine and your daily habits. You should wake up earlier, watch what you eat and monitor your exercise. However, we don’t want to be overly enthusiastic about weight loss training since we may drain out of enthusiasm soon after we have begun.
How then should a person start his weight loss training? First of all, you should know exactly what you ought to do. Having a vague thought of what needs to be done will not help since you might end up not knowing what to do next. Put in detail what you need to do, and when best to start.
Second, pace yourself properly. Weight loss training need not be abrupt and drastic, because you will end up wanting to stop just as soon as start. For example, if you take five meals a day and need to reduce it to three, reduce it to four first – halfway between five and three. If you are required to run two miles, try brisk-walking for two miles first. If you are required to do 100 jumping jacks, go halfway first, and then gradually increase until you reach your goal. This way, your training won’t be too tough.
Third, think of ways to make the training more fun so you can actually look forward to it. If you need to run for a couple of miles, why not bring your iPod and listen to music while you’re at it? If you need to run on the treadmill, put it on the same schedule as your TV time; hence you will be able to watch TV while exercising at the same time.
Lastly, it is best to find a training partner who will start weight loss training as you. This way, the two of you can motivate each other and monitor each other’s training. It would also be better if you can find a fitness trainer who will actually supervise your training. It would encourage you to continue training while being proud of and sharing your achievements with someone.
